Additional Position Details: FTE: 0.000001 | On Call | Variable Hours/Variable Days

PLEASE NOTE: Open availability is required for all On-Call openings. The candidate selected will need to work the first 4-6 weeks full-time for training on all shifts.

For this role, both Certified and non-certified Phlebotomist candidates will be considered. Details on qualifications for both levels noted below. Starting wage is based on level of position, qualifications, and years of relevant experience.

Plus, you will earn extra shift differentials (extra pay) for swing, night, and weekend hours! For both levels, those differentials are:

  • $1.27 extra for working between 3:00pm - 11:00pm
  • $2.15 extra for working between 11:01pm and 7:00am
  • $1.10 extra for working weekends

Position Summary

The Phlebotomist will inspire confidence in the overall patient and staff experience by utilizing proper prioritization procedures and coordinating the collection of all phlebotomy specimens with co-workers. May also provide back-up to the Emergency Departments and Intensive Care Nursery. The Phlebotomist must consistently provide phlebotomy skills appropriate to the age and condition of the patient to minimize redraws (i.e., proper amounts, correct samples) and must strictly adhere to patient identification protocols as specified by regulatory requirements. This includes demonstrating knowledge of all patient safety precautions - such as isolations and safety devices.

Skills need for this position also include using independent judgment in following established venipuncture procedures; ability to inspire confidence in and communicate effectively with patients and family, registration staff, unit secretaries, healthcare providers & visitors; demonstrating composure and organizational skills in handling crisis situations and effectively handle multiple tasks in times of heavy workload; and demonstrating a positive working environment through teamwork.

  • Demonstrate productivity in patient care by consistently applying phlebotomy skills, with accuracy, to a diverse patient population
Requirements for Phlebotomist
  • High school diploma, GED, or equivalent experience demonstrating the ability to effectively communicate as needed for the position
  • Minimum of 1 year of laboratory experience or equivalent experience in a healthcare related field required, OR - experience requirement may be waived after successful completion and attainment of a Certificate of Completion from a Certified Phlebotomy Education program (NACLS: National Association of Clinical Laboratory Science) approved by Asante Laboratory Leadership
  • Possession of a valid Driver's License with proof of safe driving record for the past ten years and proof of insurance may be required (for Lab Outreach)
Requirements for Certified Phlebotomist
  • High school diploma, GED, or equivalent experience demonstrating the ability to effectively communicate as needed for the position
  • PBT: Phlebotomy Technician certified through ASCP
